100-Level Silvopasture Fundamentals

Kick off your silvopasture journey with this two-day foundational training designed for natural resource professionals, producers, and educators. This course introduces core agroforestry and silvopasture principles through a blend of classroom learning and hands-on field experience. Participants will explore design concepts, site assessment, and real-world applications while gaining practical tools and resources from regional partners. NRCS, DCR, and SAF continuing education credits are available. Free of cost | light morning refreshments & lunch included
200-Level Silvopasture Design Intensive
June 17, 2026 | Rapidan, VA | 8:30am – 5:00pm
Advance your practice with this 200-level silvopasture training designed for those ready to move from fundamentals into applied design, planning, and implementation. Beginning at the George Washington Carver Agricultural Research Center and transitioning to Val Verde Farm, this immersive experience blends expert-led field instruction with collaborative design work. Participants will engage in real-world system exploration, site evaluations, and preliminary design development using conservation and management principles. The course concludes with technical training, peer feedback, and offers NRCS, DCR, and SAF continuing education credits. Free of cost | light morning refreshments & lunch included
**Pre-requisite requirements: If registering for a 200-level workshop, you must 1) complete the silvopasture online course, 2) attend a 100-level Silvopasture Fundamentals workshop, or 3) have equivalent experience. The online course is FREE and a coupon code will be provided after registration in a confirmation email. No pre-requisites are required for the 100-level workshops.

Intended Audiences
This training series is intended for natural resource and conservation professionals who work with farmers and ranchers on best management practices, particularly in the Rappahannock and York River watersheds. This includes the following: Virginia Department of Forestry, Virginia Cooperative Extension, Natural Resources Conservation Service, Soil and Water Conservation Districts, Chesapeake Bay Foundation, Department of Conservation and Recreation, American Farmland Trust, Land Trust, Environmental Councils, etc.
